Shrink gracefully…

Still working on the model making process; as I previously mentioned, the modeling clay I’ve used shrinks when it dries. For design purposes it is important to have some control that both pieces (male and female) shrink proportionately, so that their faces keep the ‘ kissing expression’ as much as possible.

After a few try-outs, I decided to make two basic models (male and female) from which I made a plaster mold. By using the plaster mold as a pressure mold, I’ve been able to make the models a lot faster and all of them seem to keep their shape and size.

Together with my good friend and colleague Senko Kabbes from www.themakery.com we made the plaster mold of the clay structure of the figurines.  You can see here below some pictures of the mold making process.
